Why do you keep waving?

[ Mouse peers down at his hand curiously and then makes a face at it like it's just offended him. Quickly, he shoves it back into his pocket. ]

Dunno, [ he mumbles, self-consciously. ] Just cause?

[Saya watches this reaction]

Have I offended you?

[ A squeak. 'Offended' was kind of putting it strongly, especially for a kid like Mouse. Eager to clarify, he shakes his head and blurts out something that might be a quiet no.

But his hands stay put in his pockets and his lips stay pressed into a thin, nervous line. ]

Awkwaaaaaard, [ he says, the word smudged. ]

Why?

[ Mouse peers into the camera, scrunching his nose. He gets a sense that maybe the lady is teasing him or making fun of him somehow and the teenage boy in him wants to puff himself up. But Mouse is without practice so doesn't quite follow through. ]

Lots of questions.

And no answers.
