I have a question that perhaps someone in the City's police department can assist me with.

I've been going through records and while I've found a number of attempted statutes and by-laws, and even records of a now-defunct courthouse system ruled over by the deities, I'm having trouble finding laws, and how the police department has any power whatsoever.

So If someone could enlighten me, I would appreciate it. Otherwise, I have trouble with the general acceptance of a police-administered investigation, trial, and justice system.

And yes Ms. Lynde, this does pertain to you, so try to keep up during the conversation this time, will you?

If no one can provide me with satisfactory answers, I fully intend on having access to my employee back.

I have a slight problem when justice gets carried out by one body of idiots.

They're only trying their hardest to keep the City streets free of miscreants such as myself.

A client brought in a car to be serviced, but the engine needed some significant repair. I'm cleaning it out before I work on that.

What sort of car?

[ The kettle just barely starts to go of, a mild whisper before he's getting up and plucking it off the stove. ]

A Ford Focus. Cheap, efficient, but not terribly well-made. Why would anyone shop American when it comes to cars, I'll never know.

A questionable need to stay faithful to a particular country, perhaps, who knows.

[synanthrope]

With this kind of car, the repair is very rarely cheap, too.

At least I'm not getting paid in pets.

[ Pause, before Eames goes back to sorting out his tea. ] Has someone- tried to pay you in pets, before?

[ Soon enough Eames is sitting back down with his mug in hand, taking a small sip as he leans back into his chair. ]

Unfortunately, the lack of laws means no law against wrongful imprisonment.
