synanthrope: (Saya - hidden face)

(no subject)

If May is a bad month, and the summertime is busy, then what should I expect for the autumn? I remember flashes of a bad October, once, a long time ago. But they're just flashes. People screaming. Body part littering the City. I wonder if I should trust those memories. Are there suggestions from the audience?

[A pause]

I'm seeking one mechanic, preferably skilled although I'll train someone who is particularly intelligent. The hours are weekdays only, with potential to cover on weekends if there's a curse. The pay is competitive, and the cars are excellent.

[ooc: Action if you want to meet her on the beach!]

I'm a mechanic back home and would love to get my hands on some real cars.

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Um... yeah. I suppose you could put it that way.

Back home I have my own garage. It's one of the worst things for me about the City - not being able to work at what I'm truly good at - but most people don't have cars and those that do mostly take care of them themselves.

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure.

Studied with one of the best mechanics going for years. Bought his garage when he retired.

And you know, took some of those certification classes for various specialties.

My garage has a very good reputation back home.

Sounds good.

Where are you exactly?

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I can find that easily enough. 9 AM okay or would you like me earlier?

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Be there around 5:30 then, since that's when I'm usually up and out.

Habit, you know, after 10 years of being at the garage early.

[identity profile] coyote-walking.livejournal.com 2011-09-03 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Something we have in common then.

Thanks for the opportunity.

I know, I'm aware. Still too bad, really.

Why did he leave?

That's extremely specific of him.

Denial of an attraction, maybe?

Surely Mister White can take care of his own business without the interference of Mister Orange.

Maybe he's habitually affected by paranoia.

[identity profile] veritaphobia.livejournal.com 2011-09-04 09:40 am (UTC)(link)
... well—do you remember any of the Octobers since then?

[identity profile] veritaphobia.livejournal.com 2011-09-05 03:58 am (UTC)(link)
My mistake.

I haven't heard anything so bad as scattering body parts, though.

[He's by the beach early, warm from the run and only stopping at the hut (mentally nicknamed the surf shack but never out loud for fear of ridicule) because the door's showing a black line at the seam that has to mean the lock's bust.]

[Not only is the lock unbroken, most vagrants smashing their way into your beach hut doen't bring their own bedding. At least, Chase assumes. Really, he'd have to ask Foreman.

It's only more confusing when he confirms the identity of his squatter, but the image of her this...vulnerable is a closer word than peaceful... is so striking that he doesn't want to lift a hand to wake her. He looks away instead, casting around for somewhere unobtrusive to sit.]

[He hasn't strayed far. Turning his head back he's looking straight down at her, a hand reaching to rest on one support rope, letting the hammock rock gently.]

Hey. [His voice is low.] Fancy seeing you here.

[identity profile] worksmart.livejournal.com 2011-09-07 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
All right.

[Still curious, and holding the hammock steady - though he notices she's made a tight job of it, it supports them both without feeling precarious - he sits, tilting his head.]

What's going on, Satya?

Your brother.

[He brushes hair back fro her face, an excuse to test the heat of her forehead.]

Homesick?

You can come by to think about him any time you want, [The hand drops to rest on her shoulders, then.] I'll... give you a key.

[Freddy. Chase is still a little biased against the guy, though admittedly like most things in the City it's become a bald feeling over time.]

He find another job?

[Were you asking personal questions? Because that'll do it.]

What do you think he's angry with you about?

[As his lips curl back from his teeth.]

He thought you hit on the old man he hangs around with? He has to be insane.

Not... that I don't think he'd be... interested, if you did. But why would you?
