[ The surroundings may be novel, but Alex is far from impressed. Geography is like history in that, no matter how much things change, people remain idiots. Alex shoves his hands in his pockets and mentally dares any of the rest of the crowd to jostle him while he waits. ]

Have you got an answer yet?

[ Nigel doesn't answer, just smiles down at his device in a way that says yes. He types out another message and presses SEND before holding it out to his companion. ]

You mustn't be rude, Jack. Say hello.

[ Alex looks at the device and raises an eyebrow skeptically. His hands don't leave his pocket. ]

I'll be rude if I fucking like, Nigel. This is your field trip.

[ Nigel says nothing, more than used to Jack and the comings and goings of his mood. (Goings, mostly, if the number of times he's found himself on the end of a strong arm and a hard first are any indication.) But their companionship is built on stubbornnesses and allowances.

And so, Nigel smiles and remains where he is, the comm still offered. How long had he already waited for eternity to find him? This was pennies in comparison. ]

Jack.

This one's particularly brusque, I'm afraid. Or can be.

Do you think that's a factor for me? Come see me.

[ Alex always finds Nigel particularly annoying when he gets like this, when he starts thinking that he can make demands and that Alex will follow them. Alex follows them only when he chooses to.

Right now, Alex thinks, Nigel is expecting him to be stubborn so instead, he chooses not to be and swipes the device out of Nigel's hand. ]

I have every intention to, Saya. You've been missed. We've catching up to do.

Would you tell Nigel I've said hello, please.

I will. Hello.

He has a way about him. I'm fairly certain he imagines the word 'please' to be some sort of insult.

You know I don't need pleases.

You're the one Nigel's told me about. I probably am.

[ Nigel's smile has changed shape (less challenging, more sated) when Alex shoves the comm back at him, carelessly enough that it almost clatters to the sidewalk between them. ] She's quite something, Jack, even you'd agree, [ he notes eventually, his stride purposeful. ]

I probably am. He's insistent on coming to see you.

And what do you need, Saya? The same as always?

[ Sex. Blood. Tidiness. ]

You should come see me. It's almost dinnertime.

Company. I find mine lacking.

[ Alex lets Nigel lead since, evidently, Nigel has somewhere in mind that he wants to go and Alex couldn't actually care less. In between his own turns with the device, his hands go back into his pockets. ]

I doubt that.

I'd say we're on our way, but I don't actually know where I am.
